Ceramic Beads

These beads are made from clay. Ceramic was probably one of the first materials to be used for beads. We know that clay beads were among the first jewelry worn by early man. They are available in different shapes, sizes and finishes, including luster and glaze. They often have large holes, which is good for leather or cord.

Polymer Clay Beads are made from polymer clay, which is easily sculptable and can be dried at a low heat (a home oven). It is an arts and crafts medium (like plasticine), which is colorful, immediate, and extremely versatile. A polymer is a large molecule made up of many molecules all strung together to form really long chains. This material can be used to mimic glass, stone, etc. and is relatively inexpensive.
