Freshwater Pearl Beads

Freshwater Pearl Beads come from the pearl mussel or clam in China, the United States and Japan. They vary in size, color and are less expensive than real pearls. They usually have a very small hole, so a needle is necessary to thread them. Pearls are the product of an irritation in the shell of an oyster; however, most pearls are now created artificially by inserting an irritant into the shell.
